By Monday, September 25th  you must turn in peer feedback on another student’s definition essay rough draft. This is a response of 3-4 paragraphs that analyzes how well you believe the author is meeting the expectations of the prompt. Your response should include feedback on the following:

• What definition strategies are used and are they effective?
• Does the author fully develop the quotes they are using and embed them into their own sentences? (Are the importance of the quotes clear, is their meaning explained, and do the sentences flow well with them in place?) Use the quote packet for this.
• How would you personally assess them on the different sections of the rubric? Which items do they need to develop further and why? You should discuss how well they are succeeding on each rubric item!
• Is their definition of “American” complex? How can they demonstrate the complexity more clearly?

Goals are to demonstrate understanding of the definition strategies and ability to thoughtfully consider a complicated concept from multiple perspectives.
Exemplary Work meets the exemplary criteria on the rubric (page 61) and, in particularly, effectively uses evidence.
