Acrostics! (TWO)

Your job is to create TWO acrostics.

Acrostic number 1: Your name. It can be a nickname, a first name, a last name, whatever.

Acrostic number 2: Something related to you.

The assignment: Create two acrostic poems. These can be simple lists (as might be expected from an elementary student), but I encourage you to think about them as poetry. The goal of a poem is to express an idea. These ideas can be complex or more simple. The best poems seek to make things that you know well feel new and make things that are new feel more familiar. As you write your acrostics, consider what the poem is trying to say about your subjects (keeping in mind that YOU are, at least in part, the subject). Rhyming is not necessary, but the poems should:

  • Include a clear acrostic word, readable from top to bottom, using one letter from each line

  • Include a mix of color, design, and drawing.

  • Be completed on two separate blank sheets of paper. This can be completed on a computer and printed or done by hand. All drawings/letters done by hand should be neat.
