Workshop Submission

Purpose: Giving and receiving feedback is an important part of the process of producing publication-worthy writing, and so it will be an important aspect of our class. Students will be responsible for providing written works-in-progress to their group mates and for responding with regular feedback when work is presented to reflect the importance of this role.

Process: Every week, ONE STUDENT in your group will be responsible for submitting writing to the group so that feedback can be given.

  1. By Thursday of a student’s submission week, they must submit one of the following:

    1. One long piece of writing between 1,500 to 2,000 words in length. This can be fiction (a short story) or nonfiction (essays, personal narratives, informational texts, etc).

      1. Word Count must be in the header

    2. Three short pieces, which can be flash fiction (<600 words in length each) or poetry (any length). While flash fiction and poetry can be short, it should attempt to express a complete idea; flash fiction should tell a complete story.

      1. Word Count must be in the header

Submitting Workshop Content will be done using physical copies Students must bring printed copies of their workshop submissions — enough for each member of the group, PLUS one more for Lydon. Feedback can be done by hand or typed, but must include a word count. Feedback will be turned in to Lydon initially, then passed back to submission authors.
