Notes about Companion Reads!

• The goal is to demonstrate a firm understanding of two novel chapters and two Foster chapters! Use a mix of specific evidence and limited summary to demonstrate an understanding of each chapter’s larger function and how specific evidence from each chapter supports those functions.

• The first paragraph largely establishes details from Foster and our novel that will be explored in finer detail in the second paragraph.

• End the first paragraph with a specific thesis that relies specifically on Foster.

• The second paragraph is maximum analysis, trying to end with a connection between the analysis you’ve done and its connection with the novel as a whole.
